The overall objective of the NEPUMUC project is the knowledge-based
development of an intensified multi-purpose process
for highly sophisticated nitration reactions using microreaction
technology for a considerable increase of competitiveness
and a clear focus on environmental issues and safety.
The proposers are ultimately inspired by the unique properties
of microreaction technology (MRT). The
extremely well controlled process conditions
in a microreactor combined with its very good
mixing quality allow a decisive performance
increase of a chemical reaction reflected in
the final product yield or selectivity. This obvious advantage
is associated with the protection of resources
(fewer raw materials, less energy consumption) and high
safety. We expect, that microreaction technology
brings the existing strict environmental and safety regulations
for nitration chemistry into line with competitiveness
with low-wage countries that don’t have
such high environmental and safety standards.
